Joe Blue: Origin of the Dimensional Jedi Master pt. 2

                                           Revelation and Evolution

As the years went on after that tragic day, James Garnet raised Joe Blue and taught him manners, respect, and control. Young Joe Blue was like many young children, full of energy and curiosity of the environment that surrounds them. Much to James’ surprise, Joe’s curiosity also involved testing out his abilities. At three years old, Joe was already using the force to send objects flying through the room if he couldn’t reach it. James would also find that Joe had been bringing back things that James had never seen before, like strange looking knives that appear they could be thrown. Joe would also come to James late at night because of his nightmares. When James asks Joe what’s wrong, Joe describes a nightmare about looking through the eyes of another person as she and what appeared to be her husband struggled to save their baby, but towards the end of the dream the husband stays behind and is not seen again while the woman Joe is seeing through was running up stairs when she started to fall. Unbeknown to Joe, he had just described the events of his arrival to Coruscant and what James was able to piece together that day after an investigation was conducted. James just kept them in a secret room and never mentioned them or the nightmare Joe had to anyone, even when he took Joe two years later to be initiated into the Jedi Order. Once again James and Joe were before the Jedi Council deciding the fate of Joe Blue, unaware to many of the council members that their decisions could impact not only the lives of James and Joe, but many others throughout this universe and other dimensions.

“Ok Joe” Mace Windu says as he holds up a display screen on a stick with the back facing towards Joe so he can’t see what is being displayed, “I want you to tell me what you see displayed without seeing the screen. Understand?” “Yes, Master Windu” Joe said as confidently as he could. “Let us begin.” Master Windu says as a picture of a land speeder appears on the screen. “A speeder.” Joe answers followed by “A blaster. A ship. A droid. A lightsaber.” with the pictures displaying in that order. Mace Windu looked up at Master Yoda a bit surprised as he ended the first test. “How feel you?” Yoda asks catching Joe a bit off guard. “A feel a bit nervous, but honored to be in your presence.” Joe replied. “A natural reaction it is, but easily overcome it can be. I sense goodness in him.” Yoda responded, making Joe happy that Yoda approves of him, “Joe, will you kindly wait outside while we make our decision? We’ll have Master James tell you our decision.” Mace Windu says “Yes Master” Joe replies, then bows and walks toward the door leading to the main hall. After a few minutes of discussion amongst themselves, they all turn to face James. “Master James.” “Yes Master Yoda.” James replies with a bit of nervousness in his voice. “Agree the council does to accepting Joe Blue into the Order. Your apprentice he will be.” “Thank you, Master Yoda” James replied before bowing and leaving through the same door Joe had gone through earlier.

Joe had been looking out the window in the hall, admiring the view of the city when James came out of the council chamber. James immediately walks over to Joe, who had noticed James was coming and runs up towards him, a mixture of excitement and nervousness on his face. “Joe, the council has agreed to let you become a Jedi, and I will be the one training you.” Joe responded to the good news by jumping up and down and hugging James, saying “I will do my best Master James.” As Joe and James made their way out of the temple to begin Joe’s training, two more Jedi’s were on their way to the council chambers. James immediately recognized them and went to greet them, Joe close behind. “Hello Master Qui-Gon. How are you and your Obi-wan?” “We are fine James.” Qui-Gon replied. “My master has to make his report on the dispute between the Trade Federation and the Hutts on Tatooine.” Obi-wan added. “Who is this youngling beside you?” Qui-Gon asked taking notice at the young child standing close by to James. “Oh, this is my padawan. The council had just decided to let me train him.” James replied as Joe came forward and bowed before Qui-Gon and Obi-wan and says, “I am Joseph Alex Blue, newest member of the Jedi order, but you can call me Joe Blue.” “Well then, we should look forward to see your progress.” Qui-Gon says before getting down on a knee to speak to Joe only. “James is a good friend of mine. He will be a little tougher on you than when he raised you so far. Do not worry tough, he is very kind and fair. He has even helped me out on a few occasions. You have gotten a special person to be your teacher and I see he has already rubbed a bit of himself unto you. You will be fine; James will do everything in his power to make sure you’re safe.” Qui-Gon says in a hushed voice that only Joe and Obi-wan could hear. Qui-Gon then stands back up and says to James “You have been given a special gift, James. May the Force watch over you both.” “May the Force be with you” both James and Joe say to Qui-Gon and Obi-wan before they each went their separate ways.

                                                (Seven Years Later)

Joe Blue was in the last few reps of his warm up until he starts training early in the morning on the planet Terestria, when James comes out with sadness on his face. “What’s wrong master?” Joe asked with concern in his voice. “Master Qui-Gon Jinn was killed on Naboo by a Sith warrior. Obi-wan Kenobi killed the Sith warrior shortly afterwards. There will be a ceremony on Naboo as is their custom to fallen warriors; we have been extended an invention to go.” James replies. “When do we leave Master?” “We’ll leave as soon as you clean yourself.” “Yes Master.” Joe replies as he ran towards the house to get ready. “After the ceremony, I must tell him the truth about his parents.” James thought to himself as he Joe cleaned himself. “He must know why he is probably the most powerful Jedi in this galaxy.” Joe took a 5 minute shower and changed in another 5 minutes. With that, James and Joe headed for the nearest starport to get an immediate flight to Naboo. “I remember when I first met Qui-Gon” Joe started to say, “He said that you were his good friend. How did you two become good friends?” “We first met at the Jedi Temple, where I had just been assigned to my master, when Qui-Gon and his master were returning from an exploration trip to one of the outer rim planets to make their report to the council. He was older than me by a few years, but we both had to wait while our masters had to talk to the council members. He had a warm, welcoming feeling to him and wasn’t afraid to talk to me even though he hadn’t seen me before. Before we could ask the reasons why we were at the temple, both of our masters came out and told us that we needed to go on a mission to hostile territory. There was some monster that was killing people without discrimination, entire families were being wiped out. To make a long story short, while we were attacking the creature, Qui-Gon was trying to get a few survivors out of harms way, but the creature sent an attack his way. Our masters were busy handling the main brunt of the monster’s attacks to help him, so I went and stopped the attack, it severally injured me, but I managed to give Qui-Gon enough time to get the survivors out. He came back to find me nearly unconscious and got me out of way of the battle between us and the monster. I had passed out before I could see how we killed the monster, but from there on I had earned a true and noble friend.” “He must have been quite a guy.” Joe said after hearing that impressive story. “Yes, yes he was. He inspired me to train to the best Jedi so I could help him out without getting taking out myself. You very much remind me of how hard I used to train after that event. Your training has progressed far better than anyone had expected.” “What do you mean, ‘Far better than anyone expected’?” Joe asked with a mix of happiness with pleasing his mentor and confusion. “I’ll tell you after the ceremony.” James replied quickly as they arrived at the starport.

The trip to Naboo was fairly short and relatively uneventful; James didn’t want to be a special shuttle to Naboo for he didn’t feel he was above any other person around him at any time. A unique trait among many of Jedi, some of them at one point felt that they were better than those around them. James and Joe made their way to Theed where they were meet by the Queen’s guards and escorted to the ceremony. There were very few words said during the service since there were few that knew Qui-Gon. Queen Amidala and Anakin Skywalker were the only ones who actually said anything; the Jedi that attended remained silent for it was not their custom to speak about those who transform into the Force. After a brief amount of time, they set Qui-Gon’s body ablaze, some of those that stood nearby started to cry, all the Jedi except for James, who let out a single tear, remained silent with the heads bowed. After Qui-Gon’s body was burned, everyone started to leave, except for Yoda, Obi-wan, James, Anakin, and Joe. Joe could see Obi-wan talking to Yoda not so far off where James and he were standing, what they were talking about Joe couldn’t completely hear what they were talking about, but what he heard involved Anakin. Before Joe could hear the end of their conversation, James put a hand on Joe’s shoulder saying, “Come, there is something I need to tell you.” Joe and James are walking towards a makeshift camp they had set up before the ceremony began, when Joe asks, “What is it master? What do you need to tell me?” “It’s about your parents.” James replied. Joe didn’t say another word after that until they were in their tent. “Ok Joe, you know that I’m not your real father and that we told you that your parents left you in our care since they were on the run.” “Yes master.” “Well, that is not entirely true. Your parents were killed 12 years ago. They were trying to save you from a certain group of people we’ve never encountered before. The ship your parents were in somehow jumped here from somewhere we’ve never been before since our investigation on where they lived. There were no records of them in any database that we could get our hands on and their ship is not on any design specs in this galaxy. Both of your parents seemed like loving caring parents because they were so desperate in saving you. It seemed it had to do with your power.” “My… power?” Joe asked with tears filling his eyes. “Yes. You are not an ordinary person, even by Jedi standards. Even though your parents’ ship had an engine design that we haven’t seen before, it seemed to act like any other hyperdrive system, except it opens a widow in space to do so. The sensor logs on the ship indicate that on that day, there was a certain object that appeared just as the ship jumped into a hyperspace window. It seems you have the power to jump into other dimensions.” “I-I have the power…to travel to…other dimensions?” “Yes, you do.” James replies as he pulls out from his pack a series of hologram recordings and a weird looking knife that James had taken from Joe when he was three. “These are some of the recordings we’ve managed to get pertaining to your parents, and this” holding the knife “was something that you came back with one time when you were three years old. It is nothing I’ve ever seen before.” James said as he handed Joe the knife, which Joe took and with it he had a sense of familiarity with it. “I don’t remember ever seeing this before, yet it feels familiar to me.” Joe said. “It also seems that you can absorb people’s memories.” James said. “What! That’s not possible.” Joe said in surprise “Remember that nightmare you’ve had, when you were very young?” James asked, unknown to him that Joe kept having that same nightmare every so often. “Yes, it never completely went away.” Joe replied. “It seems that your nightmare was a recollection of that day, your parents’ memories.” “How do you know this?” “Remember the part where the woman is about to make it up the stairs? The part just before you woke up.” “Yes and a man running down them, his face a bit hidden, but part of the expression looked like it was of desperation and concern for the woman.” “Yes, that man was me. I was there when your mother was killed and entrusted you to me.” Joe just stared at his mentor for a moment, before the sadness overwhelmed him and he cried. He was not mad at James for not telling him right away, for Joe understood that he had the truth all along, but it still didn’t keep the pain at bay. “Both of your parents had special powers as well. I reviewed these recordings many times and I still don’t understand how they did it, but it seems since you are their child, you may have inherited some of their abilities. We should test it out when we get back to Terestria. For now, let us sleep. We’ll head back in the morning.” James said after he let Joe let out his pain for a few minutes. “Yes master.” Joe said wiping the tears from his eyes.

In the morning, James and Joe got on an early transport back to Terestria. As soon as they recovered from the trip, they went right back to training. James wanted to see if Joe did indeed have his parents’ power. “Joe, today were not going to have a normal training session. You have mastered the saber techniques to almost that of a master so we can take a break from that. Today I want to see if you can use any of your parents’ abilities.” James told Joe, who had finished his warm up exercises. “Yes master, but I don’t know how to activate them.” Joe replied. “If I had to guess, it would probably take a certain amount of concentration. Do you remember any of them from their memories or from the recordings I gave you?” “Yes master, which one do you want me to attempt to do first?” “Try to summon the weapon your father had. The weapon that shoots metallic projectiles.” James said just as a communicator goes off in the pile of clothing that they left close by. “I’ll see who it is, continue with your attempt.” James said as he went over to find his communicator. Joe continued his attempt to summon his father’s weapon, trying to summon it in front of him. When that failed, he tried to imagine it in his right hand. He closed his eyes to picture it more clearly. He kept them closed until he felt something in his hand. When he opened his eyes, he gazes in awe at the weapon that is now in his hand. He looked over his father’s weapon, trying to figure out how it worked. James had just finished talking with a Mace Windu when he heard what sounded like a series of small explosions where Joe was. James pulls out and activates his lightsaber while he turned around in one smooth motion, only to see that Joe had successfully summoned his father’s weapon. Joe had accidentally fired the weapon by pulling the trigger beside his index finger. Joe fell after the accidental firing of the weapon out of surprise, but he still had the weapon in his hand. James was impressed that it didn’t take Joe too long to tap into his parents’ abilities. James deactivated his lightsaber and walked by to Joe. “Very impressive Joe, my theory was right. You should be able to activate all of your parents’ abilities. For now, I must tell you that we’ll be having a few guests with us tomorrow. Obi-Wan and his apprentice Anakin are coming to join us in a training session. Obi-Wan feels that Anakin can see the benefit of the training we’ve done.” James says. “That’s great master. Should I show them my new abilities?” Joe asked innocently. “No Joe. Let’s keep that a secret. Who knows what might happen if anyone else found out.” James replied. “Yes master. I understand.” Joe replies in turn. “For now Joe, let’s keep exploring your inherited abilities.” James says. For the rest of the day, Joe managed to summon both weapons that he saw in his dream and practiced firing them to the point where he was very accurate and precise. Joe also managed to activate his mother’s ability to cloak oneself and the items that one carries. The next day Obi-Wan and Anakin arrived to train with Joe and James for about a week. Obi-Wan needed to finish his training with the demise of Qui-Gon, so James instructed Joe to start Anakin on saber techniques. As the training progressed, Joe became a good friend to Anakin and was impressed how quickly he picked up on some of the techniques, but Joe was worried about Anakin’s frustration and anger when Joe managed to out maneuver him easily. When the week was up, Obi-Wan had enough training to gain the rank on Jedi Knight and be able to officially start training Anakin. Joe had become good friends with Anakin so he gave Anakin a communication device so they can always be in contact. Little do they know that they were about to be part of a tragedy that will affect the whole galaxy and that their paths will meet again.
